I think i've had a pretty unique life. After talking to friends about how they grew up and comparing their childhood to mine, I thank my parents for bringing me up well. My life has had its ups and downs, and I would like to share them with you.
As the fourth and youngest son of Dr. Virgilio and Violeta Magsino, I was born Vernon Clyde
Luz Magsino on August 21, 1978 at Augustana Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. After 25 years I've
been through so much yet I've only laid the foundation of my life. I feel that I've had a
privileged upbringing, and I thank my parents and my brothers, Vergil, Vincent, and Vic, for
helping me and guiding to become the man I am today.

My Birth and Toddler years
Pretty much when I was a baby, My early years were filled with love from my family. From birthday parties to all the toys I wanted, I was the center of attention as the youngest of the family.
For the first year of my life I lived in Lincolnwood, IL; then our family moved to Northbrook,
IL where I still live today. Living in the north suburbs of Chicago, I was spoiled with every
privilege and opportunity possible. My grandparents lived with us and watched over me and my
brothers, while our parents worked hard everyday to give us this blessed life. I was very
fortunate to have gone only to private schools.

Grade School Years
Once in grade school at St. Norberts, everyone knew from the start that I was the brain child. Having excelled in all academic skills, I found out I could be anything when I grew up.
I went to St. Norbert in Northbrook, IL for grade school. I've had many fond memories going
there. I still remember all my teachers and everyone I went to school with.
Some Highlights of my grade school years:
Second Grade: Started playing piano
Third Grade: After playing Video Games so much, I got my first pair of glasses.
Fourth Grade: Started playing the clarinet
Fifth Grade: Discovered I was a genius 1090 on SAT as an 11-year-old
Seventh Grade: Joined the Basketball team
Eighth Grade: Lead Role in Eighth Grade play
Growing up as the youngest had its ups and downs. Since Vic was only 2 years older than me, he
and I became close. Video games was always a sure way to bring us together. When Nintendo came
out in 1986, Vic and I played and conquered EVERY GAME. Ever since then he and I would conquer
any and every game for every system.

High School Years
Going to Loyola Academy was not entirely by choice, but I'm glad to have gone there. All the problems and tribulations I experienced was somewhat like anyone's in his teenage years. By now, I knew I was indeed smart and could prove it grade wise. I could also excel in my skills in all the clubs that I joined.
So high school comes and I attended Loyola Academy in Wilmette, IL just like my three older
brothers did. Since I was the youngest, I was a Magsino legacy among the teachers and known as
Vic's brother around campus since Vic was a junior when I was a freshman. So it was a good
feeling that everyone knew who I was already and I felt welcomed. I was always in Honors and
Advanced Placement classes to exercise my mind. I met my best friend Eugene Minon at my
freshman orientation. I was a social butterfly in high school that I joined pretty much every
club that was available. I was trying to find my niche.
Some Highlights of my high school years:
Freshman year: Went to State for Math Team and Latin Team - 3rd in State in Latin
Sophomore year: Went to State for Latin Team - 3rd in State in Latin,
Went to Nationals for Math Team
Junior year: went to State for Latin Team - 3rd in State in Latin,
American High School Math Exam - Highest Score in School
Senior:Went to State for Latin Team - 3rd in State in Latin,
Placed 8th in Chicago for Math

College Years
Having had a storybook youth, reality hit in college. Finally I was on my own with no one to take care of me except my self.
In college, I really was able to find myself and who I was
After successfully completing high school, I had my choice of where I wanted to go to college.
I had to choose from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Stanford University, California
Institute of Technology, or UIUC (University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign). Growing up I
had my mind set in becoming an Electrical Engineer or a Computer Programmer, because I had
always wanted to create my own video games. After carefully weighing my choices, I decided to
go to UIUC for Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics and a minor in Computer
Science. College was where I really found myself. By Joining the Philippine Student
Association (PSA) and Triangle Fraternity, I was able to figure out who I was. PSA made me
realize and recognize my Filipino-American Heritage. College life made me learn what it was
like to belong, to be part of a family away from home. My Sophomore year, I moved to Fair Oaks,
Califonia to work for Intel Corporation as part of an internship. I could not have gotten
through school without the Support of the Space Bunnies.

Young Adult Life
Life after college is now about where I work, where do I live. I'm not all about that, but the pressure is on. Trying to balance family/work/fun is hard now.
After UIUC, I moved back home and I was down on myself because I my dream job canned me a few
weeks before I was supposed to started. I had this job lined up over a year earlier, and got
let go due to the technology market failing at the time. So i masked my depression through
DJing and working at Best Buy. So most of my time now was spent hanging out with friends on
the weekends and going clubbing. I got lost in myself and lost my direction in life. But on
January 1, 2003, I came out to my friends and my brothers. I thank Randy Kutchinski from the
bottom of my heart for helping me "come out" to my friends and family. Now my direction in life is Focused. I left Best Buy. I'm in school now in pursuit of my CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certificate and my A+ (Computer Hardware) certificate. I looking for a job that will use my technical skills. I'm not where I want to be, but I'm looking forward to where I WILL be.
